Avenger - Blue Sun

Quote
Avenger, fresh from his mammoth releases on Armada and his remix of Lee Canning's Elemental brings us August's Trance Essential release packed full of his signature style that has made him well known around the globe.

Lee Canning returns the favour with a solid remix showing he has no plans in slowing down with his driving melody driven Trance. A very impressive remix bringing the melody to more prominence than the original.

Millaway also lends a hand turning back the bpm and making heavy use of the melody with some piano to give something of a different vibe.

Trance Essential have been on fire lately with a number of key releases from up and coming producers, 3 of which are included here on this new release from uplifting maestro Avenger in Blue Sun.

Avenger - Blue Sun (Original Mix) [07:54m]
Avenger - Blue Sun (Lee Canning Remix) [07:44m]
Avenger - Blue Sun (Millaway Remix) [07:31m]

Original Mix

Avenger’s Original is tough to the bone, with an explosive mainlead the track builds with plenty of energy and force with some nice atmospheric pads adding a softer tone in the background. The bassdrum feels a bit flat for my liking, but it does sound intentional as it sits well alongside the other instrumentation. The breakdown is where it is all at though, with a simple breakbeat section included and a tight drum-roll and some other interesting sounds thrown in. What I like about it is it doesn’t have your typical hands-in-the-air feel and it leaves you begging for the track to explode and when it does I couldn’t see anyone standing still. Another tight release for Avenger who’s productions are getting stronger by the day.

Lee Canning Remix

Trance Essential Recordings regular Lee Canning is on remix duties here after his successful release earlier in the year ‘Elemental’ which was a personal favourite of mine. He is right on form here as well, with a very strong remix which helps give Blue Sun a more crisp sound with a lot tighter percussion which is a nice contrast to the deeper sounds of the original. This remix is more traditional in approach and I can’t help but feel it would be the one which would ultimately generate the most support because of this. The breakdown yet again is a thing of beauty and while it doesn’t include the same percussive elements of the original it offers up a fresh approach with a more atmospheric sound which shines through and when the track peaks it leaves you wanting more. This guy is becoming one too watch.

Millaway Remix

In total contrast to the other two mixes on offer Millaway offers up a more progressive down-tempo take on Blue Sun without taking away the elements that made the others great. I love how Millaway’s remix progresses and there is never a dull moment with each layer offering up something new. The pads are really soft and complement the tight rolling percussion and slick bassline well. Packed full of energy this just builds and builds with the awesome main-lead is what keeps the track going up to the breakdown which is nothing short of beautiful with a well thought out piano melody being introduced before picking up the energy. Calling this straight up progressive would be unfair as the breakdown and what follows it definitely help is break the mould it sets at the start. A very well thought out remix.
